**** WORK UPDATE ****
Just fresh from the surveyor's valuation for the insurance we thought we would let you know just what we've been spending all this time and money working on.
The following list outlines the scope of the work carried out:
• The complete replacement of the standing rigging including the roller headsail system.
• Fabrication repairs to the foot of the mast in way of the tabernacle and repairs to the mast in way of the hounds.
• A full osmosis treatment to the hull below the waterline using the Hotvac drying system and International Paints Epoxy protection
scheme.
• The underwater hull has been finished in Coppercoat.
• Structural repairs have been made to the rudder blade around the lower bearing before the epoxy and Coppercoat were applied.
• All through hull fitting below the waterline have been replaced including their associated ball valves. These are all marine grade non-
ferrous fittings.
• The stern gear has been overhauled including the replacement of the Aquadrive and its correct installation.
• The aft deck and the deck under the mast foot has had additional strengthening.
• The engine and associated ancillaries have been overhauled including the replacement of the exhaust system, exhaust injection elbow
and the heat exchanger.
• The seawater feed to the engine has also been improved, with a dedicated skin fitting, ball-valve and strainer.
• The fuel supply system has been upgraded and the tanks cleaned.
• The faulty Morse control cables have been replaced.
• The replacement and rearrangement of hoses in the engine space.
• The main components of the 12v electrical systems have been revised including the replacement of the batteries and rewiring of the
battery charger and isolator switch.
• The replacement of the wind generator blades and central cone.
• There has also been the addition of an inflatable tender, outboard, electronics and safety equipment, such as EPIRB, PLB and Ocean grade ISAF / ORC liferaft.
**** WORK UPDATE ****
Not much more to do now. She's back in the water with new standing rigging, newly painted mast, new roller furler for the headsail, all new seacocks, new heat exchanger for the engine, new batteries, not to mention her new owners :)
Just a few more engine tweaks to go now and we should be leaving the dock for a few shake out sails before the big off.
**** WORK UPDATE ****
So, just to keep any of you sailor types in the loop, we are entering end game of the osmosis treatment we needed. Osmosis?! Well, it's not as bad as it could have been as rather than osmosis of the hull we had a 2nd layer of GRP which seemed to have been put on as a bit of a Friday afternoon job. The osmosis was the delamination between these two layers. So less bad but the same solution. However, the old rubbish GRP layer has been fully peeled off and new epoxy coats are on. Then it's a case of sanding and filling for a long time and then the copper coat can be put on.
Everyone at the yard is working to a deadline September 16th at the very latest for her being in the water and ready for her first few shake out sails (at last!).
Incidentally, we just met another Crossbow 40' owner who livesaboard in the same harbour as us. Brilliant in terms of boat tips.
New photos of work to follow.

She's a work in progress. We're currently doing quite a bit of re-fitting; replacing the standing rigging, overhauling the engine and getting work done to the hull. However, the current specs are as follows below.
Oh, and we didn't name her "Adamastor". There is a superstition that it's very bad luck to change the name of a boat, so we're not tempting fate yet. To find out about the name go to the links section.
